When I was researching for my book I was surprised to find that hope is not as high frequency as belief. Why? Because it leaves room for doubt and what we actually need is 100% certainty. 100% pure and utter belief in us, our abilities, our strengths and our business. Hope is not 100% belief in us, it may be 99.9%, depending on where you are on the spectrum of this emotion, but it’s not 100%.

In reality though how many of us have this unparalleled belief in ourselves and is hope so bad? After all I wrote my book for small business owners who were struggling with their business growth, and I wanted to give them hope more than anything else.

Luckily I Iearned there is a place for hope, and it’s what I call The Bridge. Hope is the bridge between desperation or struggle, which is a low vibration energy, to belief which is where we all need to be. It’s half way to your real goals in life (not your second best ones) and you just need to cross over, and step into the business you really want to have. One that you love, fulfills you and makes you money at the same time.

When we don’t believe in ourselves or our abilities we block ourselves from achieving the things that we really want, because our brain deems it to be irrelevant information, and discounts it. Our brain or the reticular activating system in our brain only switches on when we have 100% conviction, focus and belief in what we want to do or have, so this is where we need to be. Anything that blocks this focus needs to be tackled.

Hope is a great start, and certainly if you have come from a place where hope didn’t exist, then just know that you are now on The Bridge, towards 100% belief. You may even be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is good – now it’s just a matter of getting there. How do we do this?

With plasticity, that’s how.

Scientists used to think that by the time we got to adulthood, our personalities were set and we couldn’t change ourselves, but we now know this isn’t true; you can actually be, do or have anything you want to be, do or have, but we’ll leave that concept for another day. If you want to get yourself to100% belief in your business and yourself, then these are the strategies that will get you there:-

  1. Rewiring your mind – plasticity is essentially just rewiring your mind to think in a way that serves you better. Our actions come from our thoughts and feelings, which come from our mind. But our mind is split into two different minds. There’s the conscious one, where we know wha’s going on in there, and there’s the unconscious one, where we don’t. Unless you we get conscious about it. We can get more conscious of our subconscious mind by tapping into it more, which is another one of saying stop, take a breath and think before you act or speak. Our subconscious mind kicks into action 7 seconds faster than our conscious, so stopping to think, is crucial. We all know that feeling of when we have acted from our subconscious mind because it’s when we say the silly things, the hurtful things, or the things that you regret saying and wish you could take back. In fact you can take them back, if you say sorry and reflect on why you said it in the first place. These random and throw away comments are the clue to understanding yourself better, and why you do or say things. As Ali Campbell, Life Coach says in his book NLP: How to use Neuro-Linguistic Programming to change your life, “Whether you know it or not, the world can already see the outcome of your thinking” so start getting more present and you will be able to start seeing the outcome of your thinking too.
  2. Understand the difference between lack of self-belief and self-doubt. They are different and require different strategies. We all have moments of self-doubt and lack of confidence so when you feel like this, it’s probably just time to take a break, recharge and shift your mindset back into a more positive one. If you struggle to do this, then start where I began, which was with positive feeling and you can read my blog here. This moment of hesitation, is completely normal and you shouldn’t beat yourself up for this, it’s simply your mind trying to keep you in your ‘comfort zone’ and you will experience it, every time you want to do something new, or take your business to the next level.
  3. Dealing with lack of self- belief takes time and effort and isn’t an overnight thing, so be oaky with that and treat yourself well whilst you do it. Lack of self-belief most likely comes from your childhood, asking yourself what I call BIG questions, will help you to understand where this feeling comes from. It could be something like not feeling loved enough or accepted for who you are when you were younger, to being a perfectionist and being overly critical of yourself, or even just comparing yourself to others who you perceived were better than you. You simply need to explore your subconscious mind in more detail and you can do this through journaling on those BIG questions, working with coaches or talking to people from your childhood, who can help you shed light on what you were like as a child.

Get journaling, using mantra’s and other repetitive actions so you can start rewiring your subconscious mind back into a less ‘sabotaging’ one. Simply repeat mantra’s to yourself continuously, rewrite new more positive thoughts and start changing the way you think about yourself. If it’s in your subconscious, you likely won’t even know how you are thinking about yourself, so digging down deep is what’s needed. Get inside your mind, and figure out what’s stopping you from stepping into the business and life that you want.
